Again, said best by Allman and updated for THIS Friday. ______________________________________________________ Ok, you're in for the Open and your ready to be the fittest man or woman on Earth (or in your household). Here is all you need to know about the 2017 Open.

I don't need convincing. How do I register?

To compete in the 2016 CrossFit Games Open at Renew, register here. The fee is $20 to compete and our Head Coach will be notified of your entry. That's it. But... For $10 more you can get certified to judge. I STRONGLY encourage you to get certified to judge. We can always use more judges and it's just a freaking blast to be right alongside someone encouraging them as they compete. To get certified, click here. Send McKenzie your confirmation email when you pass at [email protected].

How exactly does this work?

Every Thursday night CrossFit HQ announces that week's Open WOD live online. We will gather at the box the next night to compete. Renew provides judges and submits and validates your score. You don't have to do a thing but show up and throwdown.

When exactly is this happening?

Every Friday night starting at 5:00 from Feb. 26 through March 25. You will sign up for your desired heat on this Google doc.

17.1 - Friday, February 24 (Heats at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00)

17.2 - Friday, March 3 (Heats at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00)

17.3 - Friday, March 10 (Heats at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00)

17.4 - Friday, March 17 (Heats at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00)

17.5 - Friday, March 24 (Heats at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00)

How many people from Renew are competing?

As many as we want. We're trying to get literally everyone to participate. The first year we had 16. The second we had 35. If we have less than 50 compete this year then we will probably just shut the whole gym down.

Well, what if I just started CrossFit?

Doesn't matter. The Open has an Rx Division and a Scaled Division. Just like CrossFit itself, anyone can participate in the CrossFit Games. (Plus, you might be that Cinderella story that rises from humble beginnings and wins the CrossFit Games within a year of starting. Prolly not...but maybe.)

What if I can't do some of the movements like muscle ups and stuff?

Well then you should come to our "Open" Gyms each every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 10am-12pm to work on those skills! And if the Open gets here and you still don't have a particular movement (yet) then you can compete in the Scaled Division.

What if I am super duper prideful and don't want to do Scaled?

That's a heart issue and we encourage you to talk to someone about that. The Bible says that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Do you really want to go into the Open with God against you?

When do I do the WODs if I can't make all those nights?

You should try to make them all because it's just more fun that way. But, if you can't make it you can get with any of the judges and schedule a time to make up the WOD anytime before 7:00 p.m. the following Monday.  Don't let a conflict in the schedule keep you from competing!

Can I just be a judge? How much does that cost?

Yep. Only $10

Can I just come hang on Friday nights? How much does that cost?

Yep. And not a dang thing.
