Member Spotlight: Susan Davison
Last year, after many months of many friends trying their best to get her to try CrossFit, Susan finally succumbed to peer pressure. And boy are we glad she did! This mom of 3 comes to do some serious work every time she steps through our doors, and honestly, some of you could take a page out of the Susan Davison book.
Q: Why did you start CrossFit and what made you stick with it?
A: Different friends had been trying to convince me for years that I’d like CrossFit. My old gym closed and I was looking for a new way to get back into shape after having my third baby, so I finally tried it. It didn’t take long for me to be hooked. I’ve stuck around because CrossFit is different from anything else I’ve done; it’s intense and challenging yet literally anyone can do it. And also because of my new 8am friends!
Q: What is one thing you’ve learned about yourself since starting CrossFit?
A: I’m more like my 5 year old than I’d like. It sucks when you aren’t good at things right away and sometimes it’s easiest to just be mad about it.
Q: What is one piece of advice that you would give to a new CrossFitter?
A: You’re probably making more progress than you think. And don’t pull too early.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a mom to your 3 kiddos?
A: So many things. Not sure I can pick a fave. They make me laugh a lot. I love watching them take joy in discovering the world. Current favorite of having 3 kids: they play together and entertain each other!
Q: What has been your favorite family outing to date?
A: Regular outing: Family bike rides (particularly when we end up at Austin Beerworks.)
One-time outing: We went to San Diego this year. It’s a really fun city to explore with kids!
Susan, thanks for making the 8am so great and we’re so glad you stuck around! Now about that early pull…
