Member Spotlight: Becca Matimba

Becca Matimba makes class time A Time anytime she’s in it, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. When she’s not peeling into the handicapped spot (with a sticker that expired over a year ago) or dancing her way through a metcon, you can find her on Instagram telling 60-frame stories. 

Q: Why did you start CrossFit?

A: Well Coach Mckenz forced me and a couple of friends to attend Wodder to Wine against our will 4 years ago and I just never left.

Q: What is your favorite and least favorite thing about CrossFit? 

A: Favorite part is Sadie’s (formerly Russell’s… RIP) playlist, seeing Becky yell at us in class and of course DEADLIFTS. Least favorite part by a landslide is a weightlifting benchmark PLUS a metcon.

Q: What have you learned about yourself since starting? 

A: How to work smarter, not harder. Just kidding… honestly I’ve learned how much I use functional fitness in my day to day life and that I can run longer than I believe!

Q: What has your favorite Austin memory been since moving here? 

A: ACL and SXSW 2016-2019!

Q: What is your favorite trip you’ve taken and why? 

A: Honestly, my favorite trip is always the next one. But my dream trip is Greece, so once I go there that’ll be my favorite trip.

If you see her in class, introduce yourself and expect a few belly laughs cause she’s full of ‘em. We love you Bex! Never change (except stop parking in the freaking handicapped spot).
