Meet Tei!

Hey! My name is Tei and I'm so excited to join the Renew Crew as a new coach. A little bit about me, my journey into coaching started with my own relationship with movement. Growing up in a military family with roots in Florida, I had the opportunity to experience different communities and environments throughout my life. Those experiences taught me the value of adaptability, connection, and finding your place wherever you are; lessons that have shaped both who I am and how I coach today.

For a long time, I viewed fitness mostly as something physical: getting stronger, working harder, and pushing myself to improve. But over time, my own challenges with movement changed my perspective. After spending years working a desk job, I dealt with back pain that impacted my everyday life. Later, I experienced knee pain from training without the proper foundation. I know what it feels like to want to be active and strong but feel like your body is working against you. Those experiences became the foundation for why I coach. I learned that fitness isn’t just about how much weight you can lift or how fast you can finish a workout. It’s about building a body that supports the life you want to live. It’s about being able to move confidently, participate in the activities you enjoy, and trust your body.

That passion led me to become a certified personal trainer, yoga instructor, and stretch/bodywork therapist. Through my education and experience working with clients, I became passionate about helping people understand their bodies, improve their movement, and build strength in a way that feels sustainable. I believe strength and mobility go hand in hand. A strong body is not just one that can perform well in the gym, it’s one that can help you enjoy your everyday life. Whether someone is brand new to fitness, returning after time away, or looking to take their training to the next level, my goal as a CrossFit Coach is to help them feel capable, confident, and supported throughout their journey.

CrossFit stood out to me because it combines so many things I value as a coach: strength, resilience, problem-solving, and community. I love that CrossFit challenges athletes to continuously learn and grow while also creating an environment where people support each other. Every workout is an opportunity to improve, whether that means learning a new skill, refining technique, building confidence, or accomplishing something you didn’t think was possible. As a CrossFit Coach, I want people to feel welcomed, encouraged, and empowered. I want athletes to understand that progress doesn’t always happen through big milestones or personal records. Sometimes progress is showing up consistently, moving with better technique, trusting yourself more, or realizing you are stronger than you thought. My background in mobility, yoga, and bodywork influences the way I coach because I believe how we move matters just as much as what we do. Training is about creating a relationship with your body, learning how it works, respecting where you are, and building toward where you want to go.

Outside of coaching, I enjoy bike riding, exploring the city, challenging myself with puzzles, and taking on DIY projects. I’m naturally curious and love finding new ways to learn, create, and grow. I’m excited to be part of the CrossFit Renew community and have the opportunity to help others discover their strength, build confidence, and enjoy the journey of becoming the strongest version of themselves; both inside and outside the gym.
