Member Spotlight: Lauren Bratcher

This month’s member spotlight is someone who’s been part of the Renew crew since way back — and still going strong. Meet a longtime community favorite, Lauren Bratcher, whose energy, honesty, and love of deadlifts makes her an essential part of our gym fam.

Q: What brought you to Renew and how long have you been a member?

A: I have been a member at Renew since 2018, which is SO hard for me to believe. Time has flown. I followed a friend to Renew but quickly fell in love with it. Within the first few weeks my love for not only CrossFit, but CrossFit at Renew, was cemented, and I truly cannot imagine being a part of a different gym community.

Q: Where are you from? If not here, when did you move here?

A: I am originally from southeast Houston (Clear Lake, to be exact). However, I've been in Austin since 2008 and consider this home.

Q: One year from now, what do you hope to have mastered? What skill or lift do you hope to add to your wheelhouse?

A: Does stringing together more than 5 toes-to-bar count as mastery? 😂 Truly though, I want to improve my strength and endurance on the rig...pull-ups, toes-to-bar, etc.

Q: What’s your favorite movement?

A: Can't pick one! Box jumps, double unders, and deadlifts all are first place in my heart.

Q: What’s something Renew has taught you about your fitness?

A: It's really good to do things you aren't good at. What I do outside of the gym matters for my fitness just as much, if not more, than what I do inside the gym. Fitnessing in a community is better than fitnissing alone.

Q: What do you do outside of the gym? Both for work and play?

A: For fun, I hang out with my husband, australian shepherd and two sons (4 and 1), spend time with friends, and get outside in the sun as much as humanly possible. I'm obsessed with Austin and all the outdoor spaces it has to offer. I work for a non-profit called Young Life and spend most of my time mentoring college students at The University of Texas and leading a team of volunteers.

Q: What's your favorite eatery in Austin?

A: Recently discovered Bulevar Mexican Kitchen and am obsessed. You will always find me at Honest Mary's at least once a week.

"Fitnessing in a community is better than fitnissing alone." 🥹 That's CrossFit Renew it in a nutshell. Lauren, thank you for embodying our core values. We're so glad you're still a part of this community after all these years!
