Member Spotlight: Brooke Giaritelli

Meet our member of the month, Brooke! All it took was a little well-placed peer pressure, and now she does burpees for fun!

Q: What brought you to Renew and how long have you been a member?

A: Tara and Justin (co-owners of the the gym) kept bugging me about it and told me how much I would love it- turns out they were right! I’ve been a member for about a year and half

Q: Where are you from? If not here, when did you move here?

A: I’m originally from Washington state. I moved to Austin in 2011 to go to UT and play college soccer and I’ve been here ever since.

Q: One year from now, what do you hope to have mastered? What skill or lift do you hope to add to your wheelhouse?

A: I would love to eventually master pull-ups. There is something empowering about a pull-up. Buttt I may have to wait longer than a year since we are expecting our 4th boy in November! So for now I’m working on maintaining strength and preparing for baby!

Q: What’s your favorite movement?

A: Unpopular opinion, but I actually kinda like burpees. Or box jumps. But definitely not together. I love the feeling of a hard workout that makes me want to quit, but I push through until the end. Post workout endorphins are the best!

Q: What’s something Renew has taught you about your fitness?

A: Many things! Renew made me realize how much I’ve missed pushing myself physically and mentally. It's been a great competitive outlet for me post-soccer. Plus, it’s been helpful for me to focus on mastering skills and getting stronger instead of just what I look like physically.

Q: What do you do outside of the gym? Both for work and play?

A: I stay home with my 3 boys (soon to be 4). Most days are spent outside playing a sport of some kind. I also work one day a week for a ministry called Athletes In Action. I lead small group bible studies and mentor female college athletes at UT!

Q: What's your favorite eatery in Austin?

A: Too hard to pick just one– so Vera Cruz or Lin.

Brooke, from early morning workouts to all the tiny humans, you’re crushing it — thanks for being such a rad part of Renew.
