Meet Tristen!

Hey guys! My name is Tristen Crockett and I am one of the newer staff members here at CrossFit Renew. I’m a born and raised Texan and have lived all around the Dallas area for the majority of my life. Starting around the age of 5, I always found myself playing some kind of sport with the main drive for playing these sports being the competition. The thrill of competing against others and having each person/team giving their all in hopes of winning has never left me, even after growing up and no longer finding myself a part of any traditional sport.

I played Football for the majority of my childhood; from 7th grade and ending my Junior year of High School after I fractured my shoulder. Afterwards, I found myself in the rock-climbing scene where I focused my time and effort for three years before finding the desire to get back into traditional weight training.

I knew I had always loved coaching. Even when I was in middle school I found myself coaching my friends in football drills after school and on the weekends, receiving the nickname "Coach Tristen".

I started CrossFit back in November of 2021 and instantly fell in love with group training, Olympic lifting, and competitions. My favorite movements are the Olympic lifts, double unders, and any form of the lunge (but mainly the overhead walking lunge). After a year of CrossFit, I got my CF-L1 and began coaching at the CrossFit gym I started in, CrossFit Solus, in Sherman, TX. In August of 2025, I moved to Austin after being accepted to the University of Texas to complete my last two years of my bachelor’s program. My goal is to graduate and continue my education with a master’s degree and specialization in Strength and Conditioning. My hope is to eventually work with collegiate and professional sport programs. I was super excited to move here, as I knew Austin had rich music and fitness scenes that I was ready to be a part of.

Outside of CrossFit, there are always other things I keep myself busy with (other than studying all the time because of college). I like to say that my real hobby is finding hobbies. I have an ever-growing movie collection that is currently at 116 movies, with my favorite genre being Romantic Tragedies. I also have spent a few years rock climbing, disc golfing, and playing volleyball. I also have some of the nerdier interests, such as PC building, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and dedicating the occasional night binge gaming to some random game I found. Lately, I have been interested in trying to widen my scope of physical achievements, as I have recently signed up for two marathons, a 10K run, and a 15k Tough Mudder all within a year of each other. Excited to be part of the Renew Crew!
