It's not too late to get #intheopen

The first announcement of the 2016 CrossFit Games Open is this this week! Are you #intheopen yet?I hope that you are. I hope that we've been able to paint a compelling picture for WHY you should register for the Open. If you've missed any of our emails, blogs or social media then here is the summary. The Open allows you to test your fitness - either against other competitors or against the WOD itself - and do it within the comforts of the Renew community. I guarantee that you've gotten more fit since you started at Renew. I've seen it and you have probably felt it. Now how about providing some quantitative evidence of that fitness, huh? Join us for the Open, get a great WOD in, party with us on Friday nights, then go scoreboard all your friends who are doing a Fit Bit Challenge...The deadline to register AND get a killer t-shirt (more on the tees below) is Thursday, Feb. 25 by 5:00 p.m.Whether you are in or on the fence, you need to know these important details:

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

From Friday, February 26 until Friday, March 25, we will gather each Friday night to do the WODs together. We have set up 4 heats for Open athletes to sign up for and you will sign up EXACTLY like you would for a regular class in Mindbody.

Each Open WOD is judged so we will have judges so when you show up you will be assigned a judge to count your reps and make sure you hit the movement standards. Now, we don't use the dreaded "no rep" in classes because it's simply not an effective coaching strategy but we will here and some Open judges like to make it rain "no-reps".

YOU BE THE (A) JUDGE

Does all this talk of fitness and hanging out sound like the most awesome thing ever but you just despise the idea of competing? I get that. Luckily you can still be an integral part of the Open by being a judge for us!Judges in the Open serve two roles: count reps and make sure standards are met. They don't have to be coaches, correctors of form, or give pep talks. Just count the reps and make sure the standards are set. Each judge is required to take the CrossFit Judges Course in order to be a judge. It's just $10 and, if you choose to take the course and be a judge for us, we will take that $10 off your next month's dues.Just go to games.crossfit.com and register for the Judges Course. Once you've completed it send your certificate and receipt to Whitney at whitney.cianci@crossfitrenew.org.The deadline for completing the judges course is Friday, Feb. 26 before 12:00 p.m.

GIVE ME A TEE

Sadie has designed a couple of killer t-shirt options for us this year and we're going to give you guys the chance to vote on which one is our official 2016 Open tee so make sure you are following us on Facebook and Instagram to cast your vote! See you guys on Friday night!Chris
