Member Spotlight: Ramya Pratyusha

Loves avoiding weight on the bar, hates burpees, moved to Texas from the Northeast and considers 60 degrees “freezing”. Suffice it to say, Ramya is every coach’s favorite athlete, so sorry to the rest of you.Q: Why did you start CrossFit?A: For me, I just started because Tej (my husband) started and I thought it would be nice to do stuff together. Eventually, I decided to do it for fitness. When we were in Webster, NY, he went to Buffalo to meet one of his friends for lunch. After coming back, he told me that all his friend talked about was CrossFit. Until then, we didn't know there was this whole other world. So he checked for nearby CrossFit boxes, and being a very small town, there were only 2 and we ended up going to our first ever CrossFit session. We regret not knowing about it sooner!Q: What's your favorite and least favorite thing about it?A: My favorite thing about CrossFit is community. I love how people treat everyone equally and encourage them in every class. Community is the first thing that makes me want to go back everyday. I love funny AM/PM rivalries (I am an AM'er).Least favorite thing is burpees. In the past, my least favorite thing was based on a particular gym... But at Renew, I just love everything about it. Community, Coaches, Wods... It's really just burpees 🤷‍♀️Q: What is one thing you've learned about yourself in your time at the gym? A: That I am stronger than I think!Q: If money was no object, and you had one day off, how would you spend it? A: I would ask for more time instead of money... ‘cause I would love to eat and sleep the whole day.Q: What is one simple joy for you in life? Something small that really makes you happy. A: Spending time with the ones I love. That makes me really really happy. And of course… food.Ramya, we are so glad you discovered CrossFit and, eventually, found Renew. We love having you in class, and we love pushing you farther than you think you can go. Sorry ‘bout the burpees though… they’re not goin’ anywhere.
