Renew Fitness: our mission, our vision, our values

Renew Fitness: our mission, our vision, our values

If you walk into our facility, you’ll probably first notice the Big Ass Fan blessing all of us with its incessant blasts of warm (but moving) air; saving all of our lives amid the Texas heat. But then, once the sweat settles, you’ll (hopefully) notice a big red circle full of words and phrases displayed proudly at the front of the class. This circle symbolizes the core of the Renew Crew; what we value, what foundation we were built upon, and who we are as a community.

Our Vision

Ask any CrossFit purist out there what the point of CrossFit is, and they’ll enthusiastically explain that it’s so much more than just slangin’ weights and smashin’ PRs. It’s about longevity, really. It’s about being able to help your friend move without throwing out your back, to successfully (and swiftly) recover from sickness or injury, to walk without assistance well into your golden years. It’s about total health and wellness. So, yeah, we know the value that the CrossFit program brings to people’s lives transcends overpriced apparel and Insta-worthy WODs. That’s why when we gathered to develop our vision for the gym, we wanted to succinctly capture that value. And so, at Renew Fitness, our vision for our program is preparedness for life.

Our Mission

If you’re looking for a place to pump up your glamour muscles and traffic weight-loss supplements -- we ain’t it.What’s the point of looking good if you don’t feel good, too? And by “feel good” we mean that in the most holistic sense; physically, mentally, and emotionally. With every fiber of our being(s), we are dedicated to helping people get, stay, and feel healthy. We’ve made it our mission to protect people from sickness with fitness. The image and measure of health is best displayed by CrossFit Inc.’s Sickness-Wellness-Fitness continuum:

Our Values

Hopefully by now you, reader, can see that we strive for more than to just be a place where you swipe your card and sweat for an hour. As a business, we believe we have a responsibility that transcends your traditional gym -- that it’s within the walls of Renew where the best part of your day happens; where you get to work on not only your physical self, but your mental, emotional, and spiritual one, too.And as a staff and community, we want to be the ones to help you do that. That’s why we developed a set of core values; core beliefs to help hold us accountable to ourselves, to you, and to anyone who walks through our door. For anyone and everyoneWe’re a gym that puts people first. No ifs, ands, or buts. Since 2012, we’ve made it our mission to put people at the forefront of everything we do. Anyone who walks in our doors is welcomed warmly within the Renew Crew, and we work hard to make everyone feel embraced, heard, coached and cared for -- without judgment. If you’re interested, here are a few ways we do that in a tangible way.Work hard, stay humbleWe want you to be integritous with your fitness. As it goes: no one cares if you win, but everyone cares if you cheat. In a culture where scores are everything and the “RX” button is life, we push our people to work hard, but stay humble. Because we know that effort is the only thing that produces results. No one cares if you win, but everyone cares if you cheat. That’s why we push our people to be integritous in their fitness; to stay humble despite scores, and to be proud of the sweat equity they put into themselves.Be a good humanWe encourage a community of respect: for yourself, your coaches, your gym, and for each other. We are a community, through and through. And perhaps the most golden rule within our community is all about respect: for yourself, your coaches, your gym, and for each other. We encourage one another, we’re honest with each other, we care for one another, and we push each other every day to be the best versions of ourselves.Care for the whole personWe make sure to encourage not only health and wellness about the body, but of the mind, heart, and soul, too.As a gym, it’s no surprise we put a strong emphasis on our members’ physical health. But we know people are made of more than just biceps and triceps -- that’s why we make it our business to invest in the whole person; making certain we encourage not only health and wellness about the body, but of the mind, heart, and soul, too. Want help with nutrition? We’re on it. Need a church community? We’ve got you covered. Need a shoulder during a tough family time? We’ve got plenty.Better everydayBy investing in our people -- whether an athlete or a coach -- we can guarantee that everyone who walks through the door will leave a little bit better than yesterday. If there’s one thing we know about fitness, it’s that hard work and consistency are the keys to success. So as a staff and business, we want to apply that same logic to our personal and professional development. By investing in our coaches through continuing education, accountability, and collaboration -- we’re able to deliver a quality of service to our members that exceeds expectations and allows them to be better equipped to reach their goals. It is this pursuit of excellence -- from gym owner to long-time member to total Renewb -- that makes us better than we were yesterday. We are Renew Fitness, and we work hard to embody these values in order to see through our mission, and fulfill our vision. We will dig deep if you let us.
